Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson Becker on Thursday became the world’s most expensive goalkeeper after completing his move to Liverpool from Italian club AS Roma.
Liverpool said on their website, ‘25-year-old signed a long-term contract with the Reds after undergoing a medical and completing the formalities of his switch.’
Alisson, on the other hand, is also excited to join the club. ‘I`m really happy, it`s a dream come true to wear such a prestigious shirt for a club of this size that is used to always winning,’ he said, ‘In terms of my life and my career, it`s a huge step for me being part of this club and this family. You can be certain that I`ll give my all.’
The goalkeeper has turned his attention to a new challenge at Anfield after agreeing to become the newest exciting addition to Jürgen Klopp`s squad.
Although Liverpool refrained from mentioning the actual figures, Roma indicated that the transfer fee could have reached 67 million pounds (73 million euros).
Earlier, Dutch footballer Virgil van Dijk had become the most expensive defender in the world in January when Liverpool acquired him from Southampton for £75 million, according to Liverpool Echo.
