A big defeat in the end


Sri Lanka have defeated Bangladesh by a big margin, 215 runs, making it one of the biggest defeats for Bangladesh (in terms of runs) in recent times.

With the target of 339 to win the match, Bangladeshi batsmen again showed impatience and collapsed hurriedly. After 110 in the first innings, second innings ended only at 123. And more pathetically, Bangladesh only survived 29.3 overs. No batsman has really been able to show some resistance on the day 3. Mominul Haque (33) was the top scorer for Bangladesh and Mushfiqur Rahim made 25.

For Sri Lank Akila Dananjaya took 5 wickets for only 24 runs, and Herath got 4.

Sri Lanka set the target 339 for Bangladesh to win in the final test here in Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka, Bangladesh. In the second innings, Sri Lankan score came to an end at 226. The highest scorer for Sri Lanka was Roshen Silva who remained unbeaten at 70. Like the first innings, Taijul Islam took 4 wickets in the second innings too. Mustafizur Rahaman got 3 wickets and Mehidy Hasan took 2 for 37 runs.

In the first innings Sri Lanka made 222. And Bangladesh were able to manage only 110 runs in their first innings. Sri Lanka took a healthy lead of 112 runs in their first innings, which has put Sri Lanka in an advantageous position in this test.

Sri Lankan Roshen Silva got both man-of-the-match and man-of-the-series awards.
