After the end of the 4th day play, Sri Lanka have captured the driving seat of the first test match against Bangladesh. Like the 3rd day, Sri Lanka have also excelled on the day 4 too. After the end of the day 4, Bangladesh are 119 runs behind and have only 7 wickets in hand. Tamim (41), Imrul Kayes (19) and Mushfiqur Rahim (2) have already got out. In the second innings, Bangladesh scored 81 for 3 at the end of the play of the day 4.
Earlier, Sri Lanka declared their first innings at 713 for 9. Along with Kusal Mendis and Dhananjaya de Silva, Roshen Silva also got his first ever test century on the 4th day. He made 109. No Bangladeshi bowlers really shined with the ball. Though Taijul got 4 wickets, he proved to be too expensive as he gave 219 runs for his 4 wickets. Mehidy Hasan took 3 for 174 runs.
On the last day of the match, Bangladesh have a great task ahead. There is little chance for Bangladesh to win this match, literally, there remains no chance. However, the best result for Bangladesh at this stage would be to make a draw. The Bangladeshi batsmen need to stay in the wicket as much as possible. However, this won’t be an easy task as we have already seen on the day 4 that wicket is turning. Still, Bangladeshis are expecting a comeback draw for Bangladesh with the bat of Mominul, Mahmudulah, Liton Das and others.
