‘If the Founding Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman could implement his initiatives, the country would have been a developed country within a few years. He established Bangladesh Krishak Sramik Awami League (BAKSAL) to build a prosperous country,’ said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina while distributing the ‘Swadhinata Padak-2019’ (Independence Award-2019) at Bangabandhu International Conference Center.
She stressed on getting recognition for Pakistani genocide in Bangladesh during the Liberation War.
The premier of the country said Awami League’s main goal is to let people enjoy the rewards of freedom. She said, ‘The government took various initiatives to ensure socio-economic development in the country when it came to power. Because of the implementation of these initiatives, the country has become a developing country.’
She further said, ‘This government has the ability to transform the country from a corrupt country to a role model of development. I believe honesty is the biggest power. The world no longer sees Bangladesh as a poverty-stricken country. Instead, everyone respects us now.’
She said, ‘Following the ideology of Bangabandhu, we have become successful to develop the rural areas. The government is always willing to provide a standard life to the people.’
Earlier, Sheikh Hasina has today handed over the Independence Award, the country’s highest state honor, to 12 personalities and one organization in recognition of their remarkable contributions to the nation.
