There was no minister or state minister or deputy minister in a ministry of the 47-member cabinet formed on last 7 January and that is the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs. Currently it is under the supervision of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. This ministry has been given a new secretary. Former principal information officer Kamrun Nahar has been appointed as the secretary under President`s quota here.

Responsible sources of Awami League said that after the election of reserved women seats, Women and Children Affairs Ministry could get a state minister or deputy minister. Several sources of Awami League said that after PM`s return, a state minister will be appointed in the Women and Children Affairs Ministry. Three names have been discussed for this position. One of them is human rights and development activist Aroma Dutta. She has got Awami League`s nomination in reserved women seat. The second name for state minister post is Suborna Mustafa. She has been awarded Ekushey Padak this year and stunned everyone by getting nomination for the reserved women seat.

It is also seen that KM Khaled is serving as the state minister for the Ministry of Cultural Affairs. A person from cultural arena is considered to be appointed as deputy minister or full minister.
