Former Public Administration Minister and Awami League Presidium Member Syed Ashraful Islam is undergoing treatment at Bumrungrad International Hospital in Thailand. He expressed his unwillingness to participate in the upcoming parliamentary election. However, at the request of Prime Minister and AL President Sheikh Hasina, he is likely to participate in the election. But he will not take part in the election campaign.
According to reliable sources, one of the personal staffs of the prime minister, who is also a close relative to Syed Ashraf, is headed to Bangkok to get Ashraf’s signature in the nomination form. If the AL leader is unable to sign the form, his thumb impression will be taken. It has been reported that Syed Ashraf is slowly recovering from his illness.
