All eyes on Gulshan

Ahead of the upcoming 11th parliamentary election, all eyes are on the Dhaka-17 constituency. All political parties are enthusiastic about this constituency. Gulshan, Banani, Cantonment, Mohakhali New DOHS, Vasantek, Baridhara, and Shahjadpur fall under this constituency.

A number of Awami League aspirants want to contest from this constituency. However, there is no strong candidate in this constituency. Therefore, the party is thinking of someone who is a renowned businessperson.

AL’s alliance partner HM Ershad is also interested to contest from this constituency. Last Sunday, he purchased the nomination paper of this constituency. He has already expressed his desire to contest from this constituency several times.

Jatiya Oikya Front said if Dr. Kamal Hossain finally decides to participate in the election, he will be given this constituency. Oikya Front alliance partner BNP has also fixed its eyes on this constituency as it wants to nominate either Zubaida Rahman or Sharmila Rahman, the daughters-in-law of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, to contest from this constituency.

Bangladesh Jatiya Party chief Andaleeve Rahman Partho has also purchased nomination form of this constituency. He is optimistic to contest from this constituency.

AL has finalized it nomination strategy. The announcement may come any day. And BNP’s phase of interviewing the nomination aspirants is on the final stage. With the announcement of the two major parties, it will be clear who will contest from this constituency.
