Christchurch attacker pleads not to be `guilty`
Brenton Tarrant, the main accused of New Zealand`s Christchurch attack has pleaded not guilty to all charges. This Australian born was charged with the murder of 51 people, 40 counts of attempted murder and one terrorism charge in New Zealand`s deadliest peacetime mass shooting.
Boris Johnson tops first round to become UK PM
Boris Johnson has secured the highest number of votes in the first round of the ballots to select the Conservative Party leader and next prime minister. He got 114 votes in the secret ballot elections held at the House of Commons on Thursday. His nearest rival Jeremy Hunt came second with 43 and Michael Gove was third with 37.
Pakistan must stop terrorism: Modi to Xi Jinping
India asked Pakistan to take concrete measures against terrorism before resuming bilateral talks. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi referred to the matter during his bilateral meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit on Thursday. Pakistan has sent a letter to India asking for bilateral talks before the SCO conference. Indian foreign ministry`s statement said that after Pulwama attack Delhi thinks that dialogue and terrorism cannot continue simultaneously.
Qatar World Cup: 1400 Nepalese die while constructing football stadiums
At least 1,400 Nepalis have lost their lives while constructing football stadiums for 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. In a documentary report titled “Trapped in Qatar” by German Public broadcaster Westdeutscher Rundfunk Koln (WDR) also claimed that the families of the deceased have not received any compensation from the Qatar government yet.
China flood death toll hits 61
At least 61 people died due to heavy rains and floods in large areas of southern and central China. Apart from this, about 3 lac 56 thousand people have been evacuated from that area. Heavy rains affected millions of acres of land.
