Finland`s leftist Social Democratic Party secured a narrow victory in Sunday`s parliamentary election after two decades. The party managed to get highest 17.7 percent of the votes where their closest rival far-right Finns Party got 17.5 percent. Outgoing Prime Minister JuhaSipilä`s right-wing center party got 13.8 percent of the votes.
Muslim Congress women hits back at Trump over 9/11 tweet attack
Responding a tweet attack of US President Donald Trump that purports to show Democratic Congresswoman Ilhan Omar being dismissive of the 2001 terrorist attacks, this Muslim lawmaker on Saturday issued a series of tweets. Omar said "No one person – no matter how corrupt, inept, or vicious – can threaten my unwavering love for America." Omar also said she did not run for Congress to be silent. Meanwhile, after Omar`s claim that she has been facing death threats after Trump`s tweet message, White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders on Sunday defends President Trump saying he has no `ill will`.
Nepal planes crash near Mount Everest leaves three dead
At least three people were killed and four others injured after a small passenger plane crashed into a parked helicopter during takeoff at Lukla Airport, the main gateway to the Everest region on Sunday morning. According to country`s authority the crash occurred while the plane skidded off the runaway hitting the helicopter killing pilot of the plane and two police men standing near the helicopter while trying to take off.
Chomsky terms Assange’s arrest ‘scandalous’
Noam Chomsky, a US linguist and political analyst, has termed the arrest of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange as “scandalous” and “deeply disturbing”. According to Chomsky, Assange arrested is an attempt to silent the journalists. He compared this arrest with Italian dictator Benito Mussolini’s arrest of Italian philosopher and politician Antonio Gramsci, who was writing actively against Mussolini’s fascist government. Chomsky has strongly criticized the United States` move in this regard.
