China-US talks to resolve trade disputes and other stories

The US and Chinese officials have begun a high-level discussion in Beijing to resolve the existing trade disputes of the two top economic powers. China’s top economic czar, Liu He, and Yi Gang, who is the governor of the People’s Bank of China met US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin yesterday (Thursday). US President Donald Trump said he was considering a 60-day extension of the current deadline on imposing new taxes on Chinese products in an attempt to give more time to the talks, depending on progress made in the Chinese capital.

Saudi Arabia celebrates Valentine`s Day

Because of the religious police, red rose and heart-shaped chocolate could not be sold in Saudi Arabia on Valentine`s Day earlier. But there is no further obstacle to celebrate the day since last year. For the first time in 2018, Valentine`s Day was celebrated in Saudi Arabia. This year Saudi national also celebrated Valentine`s Day without any hiccup. Sheikh Ahmed Qasim Al-Ghamdi, former president of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice in Makkah, announced that celebrating Valentine’s Day does not contradict Islamic teachings and that celebrating love is not limited to non-Muslims.

India blames Pakistan for Kashmir attack and other stories

India blames Pakistan for one of the worst attacks on Indian security forces in Kashmir. Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh has warned that a befitting reply will be given. On Thursday, at least 40 members of Indian Central Reserve Police Force-CRPF were killed when a bomb exploded near a convoy carrying them in Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistan-based militant group Jaish-e-Mohammad has claimed responsibility for the attack. India`s Foreign Ministry`s statement has alleged that Islamabad has allowed the group to carry out an attack anywhere including India.

Saudi Arabia on EU blacklist

The European Commission or the EU has blacklisted a number of countries including Saudi Arabia, Panama, Nigeria, to create risk through easing of money-laundering and terrorism financing. A European Union (EU) executive said this on Wednesday.

IS teen`s return in UK could be obstructed

IS teen`s return to the UK could be prevented by the authority. Even if she managed to return home, she would be prosecuted, the home secretary has said. Shamima Begum, 19, who fled to Syria with two other girls to join IS wants to return to London. Shamima, who is now pregnant and witnessed the death of two of her children in Syria, wants to have her baby in London now.
