Israeli forces have killed seven Palestinians, including one of the leading Hamas commanders, in an underhand attack conducted in the occupied Gaza Strip. The attack took place near the town of Khan Younis in southern Gaza on early Sunday.
A statement by Hamas on Sunday said that a group of Israeli Special Forces infiltrated into the Gaza in a civilian car. They killed Nour Baraka, a prominent commander of the al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas.
At that time, Israeli aircraft fired more than 40 missiles in the area in order to provide cover for the commandos to escape back into Israel and that killed 4 other people.
Hamas spokesperson Fawzi Barhoum referred this attack as a "cowardly Israeli attack".
Meanwhile, Israel`s military said one of its soldiers had been killed and another wounded in this operation.
Meanwhile, the international community fears that the attack by entering inside the Gaza Valley will increase existing tensions in the region.
