The US is going to reinstate all sanctions removed under the 2015 nuclear deal on Iran and countries that trade with Iran. According to international media, these sanctions will be effective from Monday local time.
US President Donald Trump said on Iran`s sanctions "The Iran sanctions are very strong. They are the strongest sanctions we`ve ever imposed. And we`ll see what happens with Iran, but they`re not doing very well, I can tell you." He said these before traveling to a campaign rally for the US mid-term elections.
The international media reported that US sanctions on Iran are going to be effective at the time when anti-imperialist days are celebrated across Iran. Iranians occupy the US embassy in Tehran on 4 November 1979. Henceforth Iran observes 4 November as anti-imperialist day.
Iranians protested against reinstatement of US sanctions during Sunday`s celebration. Thousands of people across the country demonstrated against the United States and chanted ‘Death to America’. The protesters fired on the US flag also.
Tehran signed the agreement with the United States, UK, Germany, France, China, and Russia in 2015. According to the agreement, the western world promised to lift all sanctions against Iran in the condition of Tehran`s withdrawal from the nuclear program. Trump had been opposing the deal since taking office. He announced the withdrawal of the agreement last May and announced the reinstatement of the old sanctions at the same time.
