At least 35 people have died and hundreds more were injured in a gas depot blast in central Nigeria. The incident took place at a Petrol station in Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa state on Monday.
Citing the witnesses the country`s authority said, the explosion occurred at the time of gas emissions. The authority also said that the investigation of the incident is going on.
Witnesses said most of the deaths occurred when locals rushed to the spot to see what happened after the explosion.
Many gas dealers operate mini-depots in Nigerian cities with no strong measures to regulate their activities which lead to frequent explosions. At least nine people were killed in a gas tanker blast in Nigeria`s commercial capital Lagos last June.
