Flood and landslides triggered by continuous downpour leave 50 dead and 50 more missing in Japan. The country`s state news agency said more than 16 lac people were already taken to the safe shelter to avoid major disasters and more than 3.1 million residents have been advised to leave their houses.
The country`s meteorological department has already issued special warnings for four western areas of the Honshu Island.
Most of the areas of Hanshu and Shikoku Province have been submerged under rainwater. The rainfall in these two provinces has exceeded the two-month rain. The Meteorological Department has predicted continuous rains over the week.
Japan`s Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga said that about 48 thousand members of the police, fire brigade and self-defence forces were deployed to provide immediate assistance to the residents of the flood-affected areas.
Japan`s Meteorological Department recorded the rainfall of 583 mm on Friday and Saturday only in Matsuyama of Shikoku Island.
