World Day against Child Labour-2018 today

In 2002, the International Labor Organization (ILO) declared June 12 as the World Day Against Child Labor, to give visibility to this situation that affects children around the world.

Its goal is to generate awareness and promote the necessary changes so that no child is deprived of the opportunity of accessing education, health, recreation and basic freedoms.

All boys and girls have the same rights. Child labor prevents access to these rights, especially the right to health, education, and gambling. Some activities that children do on the street, in the field or inside the house are also labor, and in many circumstances, they remain invisible from our conscience.

According to a report published by the National Child Labour Survey, some 1.2 million children are still trapped with the misfortune of Child Labour. And the number is staggering given the worldwide statistics- around 218 million children between 5 to 17 years are in employment, of which 152 are the victims of child labor.

Today is World Day Against Child Labour. May this day encourage others to fight against the child labor.
