More than 250 people have died after an Algerian military plane crashed near the capital’s Boufarik military airport on Wednesday. This plane was carrying army personnel and their families and 30 Western Saharans refugees including women and children on board, according to the international media report.
The plane was heading to Tindouf, Algeria’s defense ministry said. The report says that the aircraft came down right after taking off from the Boufarik airport. Dozens of firefighters, rescue workers and military officials are deployed to conduct the rescue work of the aircraft, which had been ripped open near its wings.
