10 killed in building collapse in India

At least 10 people have died when a four-storey building collapsed in Indore city of Madhya Pradesh, India. Many people are believed to be trapped under the rubble. As a result, the number of deaths is likely to increase further. The building near the populated Sarwate bus stand collapsed on Saturday night after 9 pm, according to the media reports.

The injured were admitted to the government hospital in Indore. After the collapse of the building, a large team of police and firefighters continued their rescue work all night. The old and decayed building had residential hotels and lodges. Five people were rescued from the rubble. Two of them are in critical condition.

Locals said that there was a hotel named MS on the top three floors of the 50 years old building. Most of the casualties are staffers and guests of the hotel.

The building collapsed after a heavy car hit it, police said in a preliminary investigation.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan has condoled on the casualties in a Twitter message. He said, `We are monitoring the situation. I wish all the quick recovery of the survivors of the collapsed building. `
