Bangladesh embassy in Maldives has issued an emergency alert for Bangladeshi nationals. An official from the embassy said that the notification was issued yesterday in the wake of the current political unrest and the state of emergency in the Maldives.
In the notification, it is said that the Bangladeshi nationals were asked to stop roaming in the streets of Maldives or elsewhere unless necessary. It has been advised not to go out without any reason. The notice also mentioned not to engage in any kind of meeting, procession and rally. Embassy`s hotline has been introduced for any kind of help to avoid unwanted situations. The embassy has asked to contact at +9603320859 for any help.
President Abdullah Yamin has issued a 15-day state of emergency in the Maldives. On Monday, the legal affairs minister of the President`s Office Azima Shukoor announced this at a press conference. The chief justice of the country was arrested shortly after the emergency was issued. Former president Maumoon Abdul Gayoom has also been arrested. After this, the circular was issued from the Embassy of Bangladesh.
