Refugee national leaders
They are influential national leaders, but whenever they try to participate in the election they lose their pledge. They cannot win in any constituency with their identity or popularity. They have no electoral area. Even if they have any there is no such mentionable popularity. But to the media, to the civil society, even to the foreign diplomats, they are the voice of the nation. The number of such leaders is not less in Bangladesh. Political analysts say this trend is contrary to the democratic ideology. Because the main point of democracy is the people. If the common people do not have confidence in them, then what kind of leaders are they?

Dr. Kamal Hossain is at the top of the list of such leaders. He lost with the Awami League ticket in the `91 election. After that, he lost his pledge in all the elections. He has no electoral area. But many people still consider him a great leader.

Dr. Badruddoza Chowdhury is not a refugee like Dr. Kamal Hossain. But he is worthless without the assistance of BNP. In the 2008 election, he tried to participate from Munshiganj but lost in the election.

Former vice president of Dhaka University Central Student`s Union-DUCSU and a superfine orator Mahmudur Rahman seems to have no address as well. His constituency is in Bogra. But after DUCSU he still did not enjoy any victory.

The list of such big leaders is long. Samyabadi Dal leader Dilip Barua, Communist Party leader Haider Akbar Khan Rano, and NAP leader Pankaj Bhattacharya are the permanent leaders of this kind. Some mischievous people said that two ministers of the current cabinet Hasanul Haq Inu and Rashed Khan Menon have nothing without the Awami League identity. If they lose this identity then they will lose their security.

In Awami League there are leaders without such root. Presidium member Kazi Zafarullah could not even win in the 2014 election. Another leader without address is former Communist leader Nooh Ul Alam Lenin.

The number of such leaders in BNP is not low. Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan is a refugee. He did not stand or was not nominated in one of the two elections that BNP won. BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has the same situation. It seems that Rizvi is reserved for the opposition only. When BNP is in opposition, he is being used as a microphone. But while in power, Rizvi becomes like an OSD who only spends an inactive time.

Are these leaders the assets of the country? This question is old in the political arena. These leaders are the most active as to disputation in politics. But they have no accountability to the people.
