Charlie Chaplin’s 129th b`day today
Sir Charles Spencer Chaplin, widely known as Charlie Chaplin, is one of the most popular actors of all time of the world. He rose to the pinnacle of his acting career even when he was in his early days in Hollywood. The English actor is a very interesting character in movies and in real life.

His works included acting, filmmaking and composing. This great actor portrayed characters and plots in his silent movies most efficiently. His silent acting literally spoke more than words.

He did not have a happy childhood as poverty and hardship tried repeatedly to knock him down. He had to struggle financially as his father abandoned the family. At the age of 14, he saw his mother sent to a mental asylum. Therefore, life forced him to start looking for jobs at his early age.

People appreciated his ‘Little Tramp’ character so much that whenever someone thinks about him, he appears as a man walking in funny style wearing a bowler hat, holding bamboo cane and with a funny toothbrush mustache on his face.

He was a natural actor who did not need much practice to exhibit a grand performance as he said once, ‘I had no idea of the character. But the moment I was dressed, the clothes and the make-up made me feel the person he was. I began to know him, and by the time I walked onto the stage he was fully born.’

Six of Chaplin`s films have been selected for preservation in the National Film Registry by the United States Library of Congress: The Immigrant (1917), The Kid (1921), The Gold Rush (1925), City Lights (1931), Modern Times (1936) and The Great Dictator (1940).

For his extraordinary talent, many considered him to be one of the greatest filmmakers of all time. His movies are still popular, specially, among little children.

Today is his 129th birth anniversary. The whole world remembers this great artist with the utmost respect.
