Bollywood`s renowned actress Sridevi Kapoor has died of a heart attack in a Dubai hospital. At the time of her death, she was only 54-year old. Citing Sridevi`s brother-in-law Sanjay Kapoor media confirmed this news on Saturday (24 February) night. Sridevi went to attend a wedding invitation in Dubai with her husband and youngest daughter.

Sridevi is called Bollywood`s first female superstar and considered one of the very few Indian actress capable of huge box office success without the support of a male hero. Born in Tamil Nadu on August 13, 1963, the real name of Srivedi is Shree Amma YangerAyyapan. She has acted in several Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi films.

Sridevi`s journey on silver screen began as a child artist. She won the hearts of millions of fans in a very short time with her wonderful performance and outstanding dance. In 2013, she received Padma Shri, India`s fourth highest civilian honor for her outstanding contribution to Indian film industry.

Sridevi has performed in several super hit films in 90`s, including Chandni, Lamhe, Mr India, Nagin. She retired from acting in 1996. After 15 years, Sridevi came back with a fabulous film `English Vinglish`.

Meanwhile, Bollywood has been shocked by the death of Sridevi. Star performers like Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Preity Zinta, Sushmita Sen, Priyanka Chopra, and others expressed grief. Not only did the film stars have expressed their condolences, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Ram Nath Kovind, Congress President Rahul Gandhi, London`s mayor Sadiq Khan also expressed their shock and offered their condolences at the passing of this veteran actor.

Social media sites are being flooded with condolences, with many users expressing shock that the actress died still relatively young. One of her fan tweets, "She came. She saw. She conquered. And went back to the heavens from where she came. RIP Sridevi garu. IRREPLACEABLE.”
