Joya Ahsan receives Filmfare Award


Bangladeshi actress Joya Ahsan bagged the best actress award in Jio Filmfare Awards (East) 2018 for the first time for Indo-Bangla joint venture movie ‘Bishorjan’.

‘Bishorjan’ was selected as the best film while its director Kaushik Ganguly won the Best Director award.

“Cinemawala” director Kaushik Ganguly got the award for the best director and also the best original story last year.

Joya was nominated twice before for Filmfare; in 2013 she was nominated for best debutant for ‘Aborto’ while in 2017 she was nominated in best actress category for her role in ‘Eagoler Chokh’.

The Jio Filmfare Awards (East) 2018 which celebrates the best of Bengali cinema in India handed over the award to Jaya Ahsan on Saturday (February 17) at a ceremony.

Joya  Ahsan shared her feeling on her Facebook page, “It’s all of your continuing love and recognition for my works that keeps on encouraging me to do more. Truly overwhelmed and humbled for being chosen the best actress for Bishorjan at JioFilmfare Awards, East 2018.”

The dashing model also received Bangladesh National Film Award for three times for best actress for her role in Guerrilla (2011), Chorabali (2012) and Zero Degree.

Filmfare Awards East is the East Indian segment of the annual Filmfare Awards, presented by The Times Group to honor the artistic and cinematic excellence in Bengali film industry, Assamese film industry and Odia film industry.
