The country will celebrate the 100th birth anniversary of its founding father in 2020 and 50th Independence Day of the People`s Republic of Bangladesh in 2021. To mark the two major events of the country, the government plans to take initiative to make two flicks, Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu assured this.
He further said, "During the 47 years of liberation war, many enthralling films have been produced. However, there is still no movie about the history of Bangabandhu and the birth of an independent Bangladesh. And we are preparing to achieve both the objectives.
He continues, “When a common is asked about the identity of Bangabandhu, why did the operation jackpot take place and what is the history of country’s independence, he or she cannot give a satisfactory answer and most of the time that person fumbles. To prevent such situation, we want to make movies on the three subjects which will be of international level. However, I am not finalizing all these matters right now. But the announcement will come very soon. We (government) have lacking in film production capability. We will work in collaboration with country’s most efficient filmmakers. If needed, assistance from international expertise will also be taken.”
Referring to why a movie on Bangabandhu has not been made till date, the minister responded, “Many filmmakers wanted to make a movie on Bangabandhu. But, due to lack of information and technical skills, it had not been possible to make such a move. However, the government will try to eliminate all those limitations and make the film. Making a documentary is a lot easier task than making a film as you need only information, whereas a film requires a wide range of supplies. If you want to make a movie on Bangabandhu, then you have to bring his whole life. We want to do that by 2020 and for that, we expect your help.
