PM has to go through eye surgery

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has to go through an eye surgery since her right eye has been diagnosed with cataract. The National Eye Institute has prepared various test reports for her eyes. The doctors have confirmed cataract in PM`s right eye which has to undergo an operation.

A three-member medical team that included the PM`s former adviser Dr Syed Modasser Ali, former Director General of Directorate General of Health Services Dr Deen Mohd. Noorul Huq and director of the National Institute of Ophthalmology & Hospital examined the Prime Minister`s eyes on 18 and 19 April. They thoroughly examined PM`s eyes for two and a half hours on last Friday. Prime Minister Went to Brunei on state visit on Sunday. In the meanwhile, her reports were finalized.

The Prime Minister wants to have her eye surgery in the country under Dr. Deen Mohd. Noorul Huq`s supervision. But doctors are somewhat little starchy about this surgery, responsible sources informed.

The Prime Minister, however, said, “I want to have this surgery here. Let me know if you can.” It is known that a group of doctors will call on the Prime Minister on Thursday to finalize the matter.

In Bangladesh, when ministers and senior officials go abroad to treat the minor physical problems, the treatment of Prime Minister in government hospital is a different incident. If her eye surgery is eventually done in the country, it will set up a milestone for the medical system of Bangladesh.
