Former president and Jatiya Party chairman Hussain Muhammad Ershad has formally requested the Speaker to nominate four candidates of Jatiya Party for the reserved women seats. HM Ershad sent a letter to Speaker yesterday (Wednesday) mentioning the names of four candidates. Jatiya Party candidates for reserved women seats are Parvin Osman (Narayanganj), Dr. Shahina Akhter (Kurigram), Nazma Akhter (Feni), Monika Alam (Jhenaidah).
It is known that the Election Commission will have to be informed about the number of reserved women seats that will be provided to the party or coalition within 21 working days. According to the law, after the publication of the results of the newly elected candidates in the form of the Gazette, there is a compulsion to inform the parties or allies within this period. For this, the EC will have to be informed about this by January 30.
And there is another compulsion of holding the election in the reserved women seats within the next ninety days of the publication of the result in the form of the Gazette. In this case, the election will be held on April 1.
In the politics of Narayanganj, Osman`s family`s power has increased with the nomination of late Nasim Osman`s wife Parvin Osman for the reserved seats.
