Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) President Colonel (Retd) Oli Ahmed, a prominent leader of the 20-party alliance has attended a meeting of the alliance nearly after seven months. He has been inactive from the politics of the 20-party alliance for the last seven months in protest of BNP`s domination over the 20-party alliance and not giving preference to others. During this time he acted as a stern critic of 20-party alliance. His negative remarks on the coalition of Jatiya Oikya front and 20-party drew people`s attention. He did not even attend one of the last five meetings of 20-party alliance.
Yesterday, BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir made a phone call to him. Fakhrul emotionally said to Oli, "You`re the founding member of BNP. BNP needs you in this crisis. We`ll make you the coordination of the 20-party alliance."
On the condition of becoming the coordinator, Oli Ahmed attended the meeting and chaired it. The issue of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia`s release was also discussed in the meeting. Even he made the keynote at the press conference following the meeting.
