In the second round dialogue between the 14-party alliance led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Jatiya Oikya Front led by Dr. Kamal Hossain, Oikya Front proposed to defer the election to ensure participation of all parties and create a level playing field. However, the prime minister rejected this proposal.
Jatiya Oikya Front said that the constitution allows to defer the election and it will not harm anyone. It proposed to hold the election in March.
However, the prime minister stood firm in her decision and said, ‘There’s no chance of differing the election and the constitution does not allow this. I request you to participate in the election and see whether the election is free, fair and neutral. We have established voting rights. Therefore, we would not do something which would destroy the voting rights of people.’
The dialogue between Oikya Front and the Prime Minister at Ganabhaban started at around 11:15 am.
