A rally of Jatiya Oikya Front was scheduled to be held in Sylhet on 23 October. However, the police did not give permission to Jatiya Oikya Front. Awami League`s policy-making council believes it is not right to prevent such a rally before the elections. Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader spoke to the senior police officer and Inspector General of Police (IGP) and asked why they did not allow them to arrange a rally in Sylhet? He also said them, if there are no legal issues or no information of a potential threat, Oikya Front should be allowed to hold a public rally.
It is to be noted that Jatiya Oikya front has announced public meetings in Sylhet, Chittagong, and Rajshahi. They decided to hold a public meeting in Sylhet`s Registrar Ground on October 23. It was initially thought that the Jatiya Oikya Front will not be allowed to hold such a public rally.
