`Jatiya Oikya Front formed to break BNP apart`

A section of BNP feels that Jatiya Oikya Front has been formed to break the BNP apart. Within a week after the formation of Jatiya Oikya Front, mistrust and suspicion have emerged in BNP as to the target and purpose of this coalition. At least three important leaders of BNP are considering this Front as suicidal. They immediately proposed a meeting of the National Executive Committee to discuss the overall political situation. Party`s Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy and Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi have reacted to the party`s secretary general over Jatiya Oikya Front. Among them, Mirza Abbas told the party`s secretary general that “Jatiya Oikya Front has been formed to finish the remaining task of One-Eleven." According to him, "One of the two agendas of the one-eleven era was to remove Begum Khaleda Zia from politics and break BNP down into pieces. Dr Kamal Hossain and Barrister Mainul Hosein who were appointed to implement the task have now joined Jatiya Oikya Front." BNP leader Mirza Abbas, convicted and arrested in corruption cases during the One-Eleven, thinks, "Barrister Mainul Hosein`s access in Jatiya Oikya Front contains bad omen." He asked the secretary general, even after not being a member of any political party on what basis Barrister Mainul has been included in the coalition.

Another influential BNP leader Gayeshwar Chandra Roy expresses a similar attitude. He thinks Jatiya Oikya Front has been formed to curb BNP`s single decision-making power. This is another conspiracy of the characters responsible for One-Eleven. He asked BNP Secretary General, "If Jatiya Oikya Front decides to go to the polls, what will BNP do? Will BNP participate in the elections without meeting any demands?" Gayeshwar Chandra Roy has raised the question asking about the popularity of other parties in Jatiya Oikya Front except for BNP".

BNP`s Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has raised most objections in joining Jatiya Oikya Front. He complained to the Secretary-General of the party saying Dr Kamal Hossain was made the leader of Jatiya Oikya Front to remove Begum Zia from leadership. He also asked about the presence of the One-Eleven characters in the coalition. Rizvi thinks, "The present government is an extension of the One-Eleven. This government is working to complete the unfinished work of One-Eleven. Now, the responsible persons of One-Eleven got merged with BNP to break the party apart." According to him, "They are doing what Manna Bhuiyan could not do."

Not only these three leaders, but the anger over Jatiya Oikya Front is also being observed among the field-level activists of BNP. The grassroots leaders cannot accept this unity. They say if the election schedule is announced, there will be no other way left. Now is the last time for the movement. But it seems that Jatiya Oikya Front has no interest in the movement. Therefore, the grassroots leaders of BNP are trying to find the answer of the question, "Is Jatiya Oikya Front a trap of Awami League?"
