Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has left Dhaka for joining the United Nations General Assembly session. Prime Minister will take a two-day stopover in London on her way to the United States. She will give a speech at the UN session on September 27.
PM Hasina left Dhaka at around 10:30 am today with a VVIP flight of BG001 of Bangladesh Airlines. At this time, the senior civil and military officials of the government including members of the cabinet, Awami League`s top leaders and chiefs of different forces were present at the airport.
In this session, Bangladesh will take a strong position on the Rohingya issue and will call on the United Nations to put pressure on Myanmar to solve this crisis.
Besides, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will highlight the issue of women empowerment in the United Nations session. The Prime Minister will also participate in a panel discussion on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of the United Nations.
During the UN session, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will be honored with two awards. The Inter Press Service News Agency will honor the Prime Minister with International Achievement Award. In addition, the Global Hope Coalition will give their declared `Special Recognition for Outstanding Leadership Award` to the Prime Minister.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will take part in the reception of Bangladeshi expatriates in New York on Sep 23. PM Hasina will leave New York on September 28.
