Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Harsh Vardhan Shringla is likely to move to Washington to become India`s next Ambassador to the US, replacing Navtej Sarna, who is scheduled to retire at the year-end. Riva Ganguly Das, who is in charge of the Dhaka’s Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) under the Indian Foreign Ministry, may take over the Indian High Commission office in Bangladesh, reports Times of India.

The Indian daily reported that India Foreign Ministry has undertaken an initiative to bring radical changes in `important` countries including Bangladesh, United States, Russia, China, Japan, United Kingdom, Myanmar, Spain, and Thailand.

The Times of India reported the Indian High Commissioner to the US is going to retire by the end of this year. Shringla may take over from there.

Harsh Vardhan Shringla became the Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh on January 2016. Earlier, Pankaj Saran served as the High Commissioner to Bangladesh who later was transferred to Russia.
