An investigation is underway under the Information and Communication Technology Act against Gana Forum President Dr. Kamal Hossain on the charge of spreading hatred and malice against the state. The intelligence sources said allegations of Dr. Kamal Hossain’s involvement with anti-state activities in the past six months have been reported. US Embassy in Bangladesh has realized Dr. Kamal misrepresented Bangladesh to the US Senate and other organizations.
While addressing a solidarity rally arranged by Udbigna Nagorik Samaj (Concerned civil society) at the National Press Club in the capital on August 6, Dr. Kamal made some objectionable comments. Primary investigation revealed that his comments prompted students` movement to flow in a different direction. Therefore, the intelligence agencies are looking into this matter.
Photographer Shahidul Alam gave an interview to Al Jazeera on Sunday where he criticized Bangladesh with ‘provocative comments’. At the day of violence, Shahidul Alam came live from his social media account and attempted to mislead the students’ movement.
The intelligence agencies said that the comment of Shahidul Alam and the comment of Dr. Kamal Hossain are of the same kind. Dr. Kamal held secret talks with a number of foreign ambassadors to fill their ears with falsification.
An investigation is ongoing against these allegations. If the primary investigation attests Kamal Hossain’s involvement with anti-state activities, legal action will be taken against him.
