Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina`s Information and Communication Technology Advisor Sajeeb Wazed Joy said, "Student movement demanding safe roads is now over. At the beginning of this movement, our Awami League government accepted all demands. Honorable Prime Minister gave proper instructions to implement the demands and requested the students to return to homes because their movement was successful.
Unfortunately, even after accepting all the demands, the main actors of the one-eleven and some identified civil society members including BNP have tried to divert the movement. They purposefully provoked the students to continue the movement. The movement gradually reached the point that created violence. Private cars have been broken, several buses have been burnt down and even some motorcycles have also been destroyed.
Opposition parties spread propagandas using social media. Their aim was to push students towards violence. The police members came under attacks, and even attacks were also carried out on Border Guards Bangladesh-BGB members.
We all saw actress Naushaba`s video, which she acknowledged to the media as fake. Shahidul Alam only not spread such rumors in the country but also to the international media. Like the Razakars of 71, there are still many people overlooking the country’s interest only to serve their vested interest.
Our Awami League government believes in freedom of speech. But incitement of violence and harming others is not freedom of speech. There should be accountability and justice; otherwise, the similar practices will continue to occur. So, those who have participated in the violence for the last few days will face trial.
We remember BNP-Jamaat`s fire-terrorism conducted from 2013 to 2015, when more than 100 innocent people lost their lives and thousands of people were injured.
“For the sake of the people, anarchy and violence have to be answered.”
Sajeeb Wazed Joy said this on a Facebook status on Wednesday night.
