Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) conducted special operations in the capital`s Bashundhara Residential Area. On Wednesday (8th August) the operation started at 8 pm and ended at 2 am. This has been confirmed by the police. Apart from this, they have also confirmed that no one has been arrested in this operation.
During the operation, police members took the position in the different turning points of the Bashundhara area. They conducted the search operation in every house. The operation was conducted to arrest the drug traders and terrorists based on the information from various intelligence agencies.
Vatara Police Station Officer-in-Charge SM Nuruzzaman said that the operation was carried out in the entire Bashundhara residential area and nearby Kalachandpur of Gulshan and will be continued throughout the month.
Earlier on Wednesday evening, around one thousand members of the DMP Gulshan division, Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police (DB) and Reserve Police gathered in Kuril Bishwa Road area.
Prior to the expedition, senior officials of DMP and DB Police came to the spot. They briefed the police members. Later, the police members got divided into smaller groups and started the operation.
Police said there are various types of educational institutions including three private universities in the area. Thousands of students of these institutions are residing here. Intelligence has information that some miscreants have been hiding in this area for a long time. On various issues, they came down on streets and create havoc.
