Foreign Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali will visit Myanmar soon to see if the supportive environment has been created in Myanmar to repatriate the Rohingyas from Bangladesh.
Foreign Secretary M Shahidul Haque told reporters after the workshop titled "Maritime Counter Terrorism" held on Tuesday (July 10).
He said, "The Foreign Minister took an initiative. He will go to Myanmar to see if there is a favorable environment for Rohingyas there."
When asked about the Foreign Minister’s visit schedule, the Foreign Secretary said, "You will be informed about this very quickly. Hopefully, the repatriation will start faster when a supportive environment is created."
He further said, "The process of repatriating the Rohingyas is complicated." He thinks this process has progressed faster in Bangladesh in comparison to other countries.
