On the eve of Eid-Ul Azha, the second largest religious festival of Muslims, Dhaka city corporations have decided to set up 20 makeshift cattle markets in the city for selling sacrificial animals.
Of these 20, 13 will be set up in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 7 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC). On June 28 last, the two city corporations called tenders for the makeshift cattle markets.
Meradia Bazar, North Shahjahanpur’s Maitree Sangha field, Gopalbagh Brothers Union open field, Kamlapur stadium adjacent open spaces, Hazaribagh field, Rahmatganj playground, Kamrangirchar’s Islam chairman house adjacent open space, Dhupkhola Eastend Club playground, Postogola crematory adjacent open spaces, Donia College playground, Shampur sand field and Sadeque Hossain Khoka playground in the old part of the city and Armanitola field adjacent spaces are the areas of DSCC.
Uttara Sector 15, Khilkhet Banarupa, Asian City, Vatara Sayeednagar, the northern part of Mirpur DOHS and Mirpur Section 6 fall under the DNCC for cattle markets.
According to DSCC and DNCC sources, today is the last day for selling tender forms. The tenders will be opened within a few hours after the completion of the tender submission.
