Khaleda Zia is not being taken to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) hospital for treatment because of her reluctance. IG prison Brigadier General Syed Iftekhar Uddin confirmed this news.
While leaving from the prison office on Tuesday (June 12th) he told reporters, “Begum Zia was all set to take to the BSMMU. But she expressed her reluctance over going there. I personally talked to her on Monday about taking her to BSMMU. According to the jail term, she will get the highest medical treatment there.”
He said if the government wants, Begum Zia`s treatment will be done in private hospital.
Responding to a question, IG Prison also said that after telling us the reason for her disrelish in writing, we will tell the authority for the next step in this regard
Earlier, in the morning BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia expressed her displeasure to go to BSMMU.
On her behalf, senior jail superintendent of Central Jail Jahangir Kabir told the media that we have done all the preparations to treat Begum Zia. Though she expressed her reluctance over going to BSMMU but she expressed interest to go to the city`s United Hospital.
