‘I’m being killed slowly’

According to a prison source, When the senior officials led by the Inspector General of prisons visited BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, she disapproved of going to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Medical University. Sources said she was very excited that time and said, ‘I’m being killed slowly.’

Today, the IG prison, civil surgeon, and senior officials visited the old central jail of Nazimuddin road to meet Khaleda. On Saturday, four personal doctors of Khaleda examined her. Dr. FM Siddique led the four-member team who later recommended to run some medical tests. They submitted a report to the jail authorities where it mentioned 18 tests including blood and MRI. They recommend United Hospital to conduct those tests. The Home Ministry also received a copy of the report. Following this, the home minister directed to conduct the tests at BSMMU. According to the direction, the BSSMU was instructed to get prepared yesterday. BSMMU Vice-Chancellor Prof Kanak Kanti Barua said, ‘BSMMU is the most advanced hospital in Bangladesh with all the modern facilities. No other hospital in Bangladesh has such facilities.’ He said, ‘The earlier report of Khaleda’s medical tests came alright. And we believe if we run more tests the report will remain satisfactory and accurate.’

However, Khaleda told the jail authority that she has no faith in BSMMU’s services. She does not want to go there. She only wants to go to the United Hospital.

Tomorrow morning, Khaleda again will meet with the jail authorities. A senior official told that he would try to convince Khaleda. If Khaleda gives her green signal, tomorrow she will be taken to BSMMU.
