Rajib could not be saved


Rajib Hossain, a student of Titumir College, who lost his hand under the pressure of two buses in the capital, passes away. He died at the Intensive Care Unit-ICU of Dhaka Medical College last night (April 17th) at around 12:40 am.

Rajib`s two relatives and Dhaka Medical College Hospital Police Outpost In-Charge (SI) Bachchu Mia confirmed this news to the media. Besides, the doctors of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital`s Orthopedic Department Dr. Jahidul also confirmed his death. Rajib`s aunt Jahanara Begum said that they are going to take his body to Patuakhali, from where Rajib was hailed.  

It is to be mentioned that on April 3, the Rajib Hossain`s right arm was separated from his body due to immense pressure of two buses in front of the SAARC Fountain in Karwanbazar in the capital. Initially, he was taken to the Samorita Hospital in Panthapath. Later on 4th April, Rajib was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for better treatment. A medical board led by Dr. Shamsuzzaman Shaheen was formed for Rajib’s treatment.

He was put on life support when he began having breathing difficulty at the hospital’s intensive care unit on Apr 10. He also appeared with limited ‘consciousness’ of his surroundings than he was before. Besides losing his right arm from the elbow, Rajib had broken bones in the front and back of the head in the accident.

Rajib lost his parents a few years ago. He has two younger brothers.
