Ershad demands 70 seats and 12 ministries


Jatiya Party (JaPa)Chairman Hussein Muhammad Ershad has demanded 70 seats in the next election and 12 ministries in the government which will be formed after the election.He has threatened to announceJaPa candidates in 300 seats if his demands are not met. He told this to the journalists in Rangpur on the day of PahelaBaishakh.

Ershad, the special envoy of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, told reporters that JaPa will contest separately in the next general election. And if the BNP does not join the polls, JaPa will announce names of candidates in 300 seats.

JaPa chairman said, "If AL does not accept our demands, we will contest in 300 seats and get to power by winning."

Referring to the arrest of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, he said, "Although I was innocent, Khaled put me in jail and refused bail. Now she is in jail."

Regarding the cancelation of the quota system, Ershad said, "It would not be a wise decision to abolish the quota system. It is in the constitution. The freedom fighters should have quota facility. Hopefully, PM will decide to keep some quotas for the freedom fighters.

The mayor of Rangpur City Corporation Mostafizur Rahman Mostafa, State Minister for LGRD Moshiur Rahman Ranga, JaPa Secretary General ABM Ruhul Amin Howladerwere also present there.
