Yesterday (Monday) BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia granted four months interim bail in her Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case. Today (Tuesday), two separate appeals have been filed against the four-month interim bail of BNP Chairperson in the Appellate Division.
Advocate Sufia Khatun filed the appeal on behalf of the state and on the other hand, lawyer Khurshid Alam Khan, on behalf of Anti-Corruption Commission, lodged another appeal, who said that Chamber Judge of Appellate Division will hear the appeals at noon.
Earlier, an HC bench received the appeal of Khaleda’s lawyers and ordered to send the relevant documents within the next 15 days. The deadline for submitting documents was over on March 7 and the relevant section of the HC received the records of the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case pm February 25.
On February 22, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia filed the petition with the High Court seeking bail in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
Barrister Nowshad Jamir and Barrister Kaiser Kamal, on behalf of the BNP chief, submitted the 880-page bail petition showing 31 grounds for granting her bail.
