Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali will leave the country for Myanmar to attend the 13th ASEM Summit on November 19, 2017. The Foreign Ministerial Meeting will take place in Nay Pyi Taw between November 20-21 and it is evident that Rohingya issue will be the key discussion topic of the Summit.
The European Union on October 16 told that it is intending to take the opportunity to discuss the Rohingya issue with Myanmar government and will also talk through current issues with all Asian partners.
The EU also urged its partners in ASEAN and the region to cooperate in this discussion.
The Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) is an intergovernmental forum for dialogue and cooperation which fosters political dialogue, reinforces economic collaboration, and promotes collaboration in other areas of mutual interest.
Taro Kono, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, is expected to come to Bangladesh on a two-day official visit on November 18.
The Japanese Minister will also join the ASEM Summit after the Dhaka visit.
