Today, the leaders and activists of BNP are observing 6-hour hunger strike protesting the arrest of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and demanding her immediate release from jail. BNP’s strike began around 10 am in front of the Jatiya Press Club as part of its countrywide program. The strike will continue until 4 pm.
Going through the above line might cause tickle and then laughter as 6-hour strike sounds very unusual to a sensible person. Normally, people go through without any food for 7-8 hours. After eating lunch at 1-2 pm, the next meal of night people eat around 9-10 pm. So, people normally can go without any food for around 9-10 hours in a day.
Therefore, it really makes no sense when BNP has called a 6-hour hunger strike.
Just a month ago, non-MPO teachers pursued a 7-day hunger strike to meet their demands. On the second day of demonstration few teachers fell sick for going without any food when others were continuing their strike.
Now, if we compare the two incidents, we find nothing but a source of laughter.
