Chief Justice (CJ) Surendra Kumar Sinha has left for Australia on Friday (13 October) night.
He left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport by a Singapore Airlines flight at 12:00 am, said Inspector Abdul Jabbar, officer-in-charge (OC) of immigration police at the Airport, reports UNB.
His daughter lives in Australia and the CJ is supposed to spend his one-month leave on health issues.
In his absence, the senior most judge, Justice Abdul Wahhab Miah of Appellate Division is performing duty as the acting Chief Justice.
Sinha`s observation made in the verdict on the 16th amendment of the constitution has earned him a lot of criticism from the ruling party leaders and ministers.
SK Sinha assumed office on January 17, 2015, as the country’s 21st Chief Justice. On 31 January 2018, he will go to retirement.
