‘Quader Bhai, you said darkness will be over’

You used to do briefing, but today you are silent. The doctors are briefing about your physical condition. A person who used to be so busy all the time, a single movement of a part of his life has now become the main headline of all media of the country.

When my phone rang at 8 in the morning, I don`t know why I used to think I would hear a staid voice, "Pranab Saha, are you sleeping?" A timid and eager me would answer, "No Quader Bhai (Brother)." "You were tough at last night’s talk show. Listen, it is very easy to criticize but hard to work."

Quader Bhai, we will not criticize or blame any further. See how many cameras, journalists, thousands of leaders and activists are present at BSMMU. Our only desire is that you stand up and smile a little, the way you smile to avoid the embarrassing question. Every morning you will walk in the parliament area adjacent to the lake. I will not rush to you in the morning to take your consent for an interview. Through missed call or sending a message at night, I will not expect the return call in the morning. I will not be huffy if you do not make any phone call to me. I will not remind you that you were a journalist too. Then why will you not talk or take care of the journalists?

But you used to take updates always, so there was lot of debates too. From morning till late night I was only thinking, should I write about you or leave it! Because my optimistic mind keeps telling me, you would scold me for my write-up after your recovery. Because, in this BSMMU, after coming for treatment in 2007, an imprisoned Obaidul Quader told us, "Don`t be afraid, the darkness will be over. CCU monitor, BP checking machinery, and oxygen mask do not suit you.

Dear Quader Bhai, you cannot just ignore so much love of the people, you are not such kind of a politician. I am still waiting for a tired voice in the morning, and an exhausted person who just completed his morning walk. I will not say, Quader Bhai, that speech was not correct. I will not criticize for uploading so many pictures on Facebook. I will not pressurize you to take me to the Padma Bridge, or give me an exclusive interview on the country`s mega and challenging project standing there. Just tell me once, don`t worry much!!!
