Who would stop these flatterers?

Who would stop these flatterers?

Our Prime Minister is generous, candid and brave. She speaks openly what she believes. So Prime Minister`s press conference is an ideal place for collecting information for any media worker. But now-a-days PM`s press conference made me upset and disgusted. During each press conference, I`m afraid of thinking that I may encounter the shame of journalism. I may have to declare any of my elder colleagues a winner for flattering.

The beginning of the today`s press conference was good. Toufiq Imroz Khalidi`s questions were related and relevant to the recent events. In this way everything was progressing well. Thanking the Prime Minister for receiving the prize in the United Nations, honoring her--are not unconventional, rather it is a matter of etiquette. At one time, it seemed that today we would not have to be ashamed. But suddenly Shykh Seraj snatched the microphone like he had hijacked the `Independence Day Award` a few days ago. After that he started the irrelevant talk like talking about the story of the founding anniversary of Channel-i. I do not know how could he show such effrontery? Is the press conference arranged to let the country’s chief executive know about the anniversary of a TV channel? The biggest thing is that he is not even a journalist. His work includes organizing agriculture related programs and win awards by lobbying. When the BNP-Jamaat alliance came to power in 2001, he was busy in pampering Tarique Zia. His obnoxious attitude just ruined the natural environment of the press conference. Then the press conference went in the possession of the channel owners and editors. Ekattor TV`s Managing Director Mozammel Babu ruined the remaining dignity of the conference. He addressed the Prime Minister as the `leader`.  Mozammel Babu went to the United States with the PM. He said that there was no cordial reception for other heads of states and government chiefs except for Donald Trump and Sheikh Hasina in the United Nations. From where did he learn to put so much of oil? Then the former MD of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha and the editor of a daily took the microphone. It seemed that he is not asking question rather he is addressing at a Awami League gathering.

Every time some flatterer-cum-owners and editors spoiled PM`s important press conferences. Why did they even come? I have two modest requests to the Honorable Prime Minister. One, please do not call unnecessary flatteres-cum-proprietors and editors to the important press conferences. It is better to arrange separate meetings for them if necessary. Two, at the press conference, I saw the leaders of Awami League. What are the leaders working at the press conference? Is it a party rally? The seriousness of the press conference will increase if the Prime Minister convenes a press conference without their presence.

Prime Minister`s press conference is very important. Its biggest beauty is the question-answer session. I do not know if there is any other government head in the world who accepts all the questions at the press conference. So, why do we ruin the beauty of this brilliant initiative because of some flatterers? But the question is--who will stop them?
